Increasing Your Visibility As An Introvert

Increasing Your Visibility As An Introvert by Jill CelesteDoes it feel like increased visibility and being an introvert don’t mix?

Does it feel like to be more visible you have to be more extroverted?

Fellow introverts, I have good news for you…

You can increase your visibility as an introvert – and not burn out in the process.

In this marketing strategy, I will share how to pick “loud” marketing activities that you can implement within the energetic boundaries of your introversion.

Introverts can still get loud in the marketplace. - Jill Celeste

BLOG:

2020 is the Year of Loud Women, and in last week’s blog post, I talked about why female entrepreneurs need to be loud.

This week, I want to turn to my fellow introverts – those of us who shiver at the thought of being loud.

Here’s the thing: Introverts can get loud in the marketplace, too. Loud doesn’t mean extroversion. It means knowing your message and telling it consistently, constantly, and doggedly to your ideal clients.

Managing your introversion energy

When I think of “introvert,” I think of energy. Introverts are often low energy, for sure, but it’s more than that. We are intentional about how we spend our energy.

From a marketing perspective, this means we need to mind our energy levels. The first step is to focus on marketing activities you enjoy implementing, what I call Marketing Joy™. Make a list of marketing tasks you enjoy implementing, and then list the marketing tasks you don’t like to implement.

As you examine these lists, give yourself permission to only implement your Marketing Joy tasks. For those marketing tasks that you don’t like implementing, delegate them or don’t implement at all.

Build in breaks

As you implement the marketing tasks that bring you joy, the second step is to build breaks into your calendar.

Calendar management is your friend! Think about how you want your days, weeks, and months to look.

For example, if you want to attend an in-person networking meeting, add time in your calendar for replenishment after the meeting.

To inspire you, every Monday is my business development day when I work on creating, writing, and planning. Once a month, I take a week “off Zoom” when I am not teaching or doing Q&A calls.

Mondays and my off-Zoom week are my energy savers. It’s how I balance the energy I need for other marketing activities.

Set boundaries

Finally, you need to create boundaries around your time, energy, and resources. Here are some points to consider:

  • How can a client or sales prospect contact you when they’re not on your calendar?
  • How can you ensure a coffee date only lasts 30 minutes?
  • How quickly do you want to respond to emails?
  • What are your office hours?
  • What days will you take off each week?
  • How do you want your family and friends to contact you during work time?

As an introvert, establishing boundaries is important because it provides the energetic guard rails. In between those guard rails, you’ll have the energy you need to get loud in the marketplace.

Being loud as an introvert is not a question of “can I do this?” Of course, you can – but on your terms. Implement the three steps in this marketing strategy to help you.

Remember, most of the people you admire are introverts. If they can do it, you can too. I am rooting for you!
